Inkwell ATC's for Bee Crafty

Hello!

Today on the Bee Crafty blog I have a couple of ATC's to share with you.

ATC's are Artist Trading Cards (measuring 2 1/2" x 3 1/2")  which were originally designed to trade with other people as little pieces of artwork that could also be a sort of business card.  There are still groups that trade cards and I have taken part in a few swaps however mostly mine are kept in a specially decorated box as little art works and sometimes I use them as toppers on other cards...

A while ago I bought some metallic watercolours and this year I really want to use the mediums that I have and in particular be able to create some soft and floaty watercolour backgrounds, so this was me practising!!  I used a selection of shades of gold along with a couple of greens...

As the colours were quite vintage I decided to stick with that theme and used two different sized cogs with archival ink...

Another product I am determined to use more this year are my gilding flakes, but I chose to use a stencil with them.  I used flitterglu through the circle lattice d'inkable and then added a mixture of different colours of gilding flake once the glue had gone tacky...

After sponging archival ink around the card edges I stamped my focal images onto separate card stock.  These were the inkwell and the smallest feather from the feathers set to become a quill.  I chose two sentiments from the small words set as these are an ideal size for ATC's.
Once these had been cut out, coloured and added I wanted a little more detail in the background so stamped on little touches of the script stamp...

Here are the products that were used:

Art Stamps - Inkwell & Nibs
Art Stamps - Assorted Small Feathers
Art Stamps - Cogs Set
Background, Textures & Borders - Script
D'Inkables - Circle Lattice
* Archival Ink Pads

Thank you for looking and happy crafting!

Hearts and Flowers Art Journal Page for Bee Crafty

Hello!

This week on the Bee Crafty blog I am sharing an art journal page...

I started by using a page in my journal that I had been using to brayer excess paint onto.  Then I had added some stenciling with the circles d'inkable...

Next I added extra colour to the white areas then stenciled using the large inkable Fernando...

Using the Small Words stamp set with archival ink I added some extra texture...

To create the first part of my focal point I used crackle paste through the Mandala 4 stencil.  Once the crackle was dry I added some brown water based colour to bring out the crackles and emphasise the edges...

I wanted a bit more of the brown colour in the background so added more stamping using one of the texture borders with archival ink...

To complete my focal point I stamped and cut out the largest of the style wire hearts and 3 of the regular doodle art sunflowers.  These were then coloured and added to the page...

Finally I added one of the Ticker Tape 2 sentiments...

Here are the products that were used:

Background, Textures & Borders - Style Wire Heart (Large)
* Background, Textures & Borders - Texture Borders
Doodle Art - Sunflower (Regular)
Wordage - Ticker Tape Sentiments 2
D'Inkables - Circles
Large Inkables - Fernando
6 x 6 Inkables - Mandala 4
* Archival Ink Pads

Beautiful Blooms with HunkyDory Crafts

Hello!

Today on my blog I am sharing a card I have made using products sent to me from HunkyDory crafts, there is also a video of how I made the project and using the products on my YouTube channel here...

Full disclosure: I have been given these products to review for free and to keep, however any views I have are my own and will be totally honest.

Here is the project I created...

The products that were sent to me were the set of 48 Prism Watercolour Pencils and the Perfect Posy stamp set...

The pencils come in a set of 48 and are already sharpened when you receive them.  They are stored in a lovely wrap that rolls up for easy travel and storage and at the end of the roll is a pocket that would be handy for storing a couple of water brushes.  The wrap has a piece of material that covers the tips of the pencils to help protect them and overall I thought that the presentation of these pencils was really nice.

The range of colours in the set is very good...

One tip is that when sharpening these pencils I would say not to make them too sharp as I caused a few breakages when I started colouring with them!

I decided to use them without water to start with (as a regular colouring pencil) and I found the colour very easy to apply (I used them with the Ink Me card stock, a smooth card).  Next I used two shades of the same colour next to each other to see how they would blend and this also worked well.  (I did not try blending two different colours so do not know how this would work).  I also blended 3 shades together for the petals and used the white pencil over the top for an extra blend..I was really impressed with the smoothness of the pencils and their blend ability...

As the pencils are water reactive I was also able to lift some of the colour to add highlights to the petals.

Next I used water with them to colour the smaller flowers from the Oh So Pretty Petals stamp set.  When I tried them with water on a smoother card I found it difficult to blend the colour out so you do need to use a proper water colour card, however they worked well with the Prism watercolour card stock, and I also tested them on a mixed media card which worked well.  The colour pulls out nicely with the water creating a pretty graduated effect...

I also took some colour from the tip using a brush, this gives a much lighter effect but is another way of using them.  I would not recommend dipping these pencils into water as this can cause damage to the wood in your pencils.

The stamp was an ideal size for adding colour to and as with all the stamps I have used from HunkyDory is great quality and stamps clearly and crisply...

Overall I was very impressed with these pencils, in particular I love the way they are presented and the smoothness of application.  Along with a useful range of colours I think they are a good product.
