Patterned Paper Plaque for Tando Creative

Hello!

This week on the Tando Creative blog the theme is to use patterned papers.

I decided to use paper to cover my Tando Creative plaque before I decorated it...

I chose two coordinating pieces of patterned paper to use on my MDF and greyboard pieces.  Using decoupage glue I stuck my pieces to the papers then once the glue had dried cut the shapes out roughly then used a sanding block to create a nice edge around each piece.

At this stage I added some holes with a crop a dile for my wire and some distress ink around each of the pieces using a duster brush.

To create the focal point I stamped and die cut some flowers and leaves which I then coloured with distress inks that matched the paper colours.  Next I added some faux gems for the centres and also some flat backed pearls...

To finish I stamped a sentiment onto kraft card using versamark and white embossing powder then layered it up onto the same floral patterned paper and purple card...

If you don't want to use paint and mediums then paper is another great way to cover your Tando plaques, tags and media boards.  There will be more ideas from other members of the team through the week.

Here are the links to some of the products used:

* Substrates Mega Pack
* Americana Decoupage Matt
* Versamark Ink Pad

Let it Snow! for Bee Crafty

Hello!

This week on the Buzzy Goings on at Bee Crafty Blog I am sharing a card that was inspired by this week's weather!  As it was so cold and I know that some places had a flurry of the white stuff, I decided to get out my snowflake stamps to create a much more clean and simple card than I would normally make...

I started by cutting a piece of white stamping card to the size I wanted then tore it across on a diagonal to create a ragged edge.
Using the larger of the spikey snowflake stamps I stamped using versamark ink then heat embossed with white powder.
To create a frosty colour tone I used broken china and faded jeans distress inks, then made sure I wiped the ink from the snowflakes...

Next I took the smaller spikey snowflake and stamped using the broken china distress ink.  This piece was then layered up using foam tape onto another piece of card.
Taking a sentiment from the everyday Christmas 1 set I stamped onto the lower piece using a dark blue archival ink, then added a small snowflake using the distress ink.

Finally I layered it up onto a card blank.

To create this card I used:

* Yuletide - Spikey Snowflakes
* Yuletide - Everyday Christmas 1
* Distress Inkpads

I hope you have been keeping warm in this colder weather and thank you for looking.

Happy crafting,

Autumnal MDF Wreath for Bee Crafty

Hello!

This week on the Buzzy Goings on at Bee Crafty Blog I am sharing one of my samples from this weeks HOCHANDA shows...

This project was created using the medium sized wreath from the MDF pack as well as some of the MDF flourishes and one of the words.

To get the flourishes to fit exactly where I wanted I trimmed some of the parts using a strong pair of scissors then sanded the cut edges.

The background of the wreath was created using crackle paste and then spray inks along with gilding wax to highlight some of the texture.

The flourishes were painted and then had liquid pearls added to create extra details.

I also wanted to be able to use the centre part of the wreath so cut a piece of heavyweight acetate to the size needed then coloured it using alcohol inks.

Once it had been stuck to the back of the wreath I could then use it for my wording...

The leaves were created by stamping from both the oak and maple leaf sets.

I started by colouring some card using distress oxide inks then stamped over the top with an archival sepia pad.

Once I had cut them all out they were coated with glossy accents to create a sheen and also to make them more sturdy.

When I had added the wording to the centre I felt I needed to add more texture to the wreath so used microbeads, beads and more liquid pearls around different parts, adhering them with glue gel for a strong stick...

The products used were:

* Beautanicals - Maple Leaf Set
* Beautanicals - Oak Leaf Set
* MDF - Wreath Set
* Distress Oxide Inkpads
* Archival Inkpads

If you would like to see Bev and Sam's demos from the shows they will be available for a couple of weeks on rewind, please visit the HOCHANDA website to find the link.

Thank you for looking and happy crafting,

Spray Ink Tag for Tando Creative

Hello!

This week on the Tando Creative Blog the design team are using spray inks and/or paints.
I love using spray inks and have quite a selection in my crafty stash! In particular I like using the sprays over crackle mediums as I like the way they react with the cracks.

Here is my inky, crackly tag...

I started by priming all of my greyboard pieces with white gesso then added stencilling to the main tag using modelling paste.  The wings, plaque and tag all had crackle paint added and the heart had crackle paste to create larger and thicker cracks...

When all the mediums had dried I added spray inks.  The heart and tag were coloured using plain ink sprays and on the other pieces I added sprays that also contained mica.  Gold gilding wax was blended around all the edges to finish the pieces off...

To complete the project I added some Tim Holtz stickers and then some colourful sequins to which I added some tiny flat backed pearls.

The products used were:

* Tando Creative - Size 6 Tag
* Tando Creative Grab Bag - Hearts
* Tando Creative - Wings
* Tando Creative - Industrial Elements
* Tando Creative - Mini Stencil Distressed Diamonds
* Decoart Media - Mediums

There will be more inky and painty inspiration from the team throughout the rest of the week.

Happy crafting,

Autumnal Art Journaling for Bee Crafty

Hello!

Today on the Buzzy Goings on at Bee Crafty Blog I am sharing a little bit of art journaling...

Often when I start art journaling I am not sure about where the page is going to go, so this time I began by choosing 3 distress oxide ink colours that I liked to create the base (fossilized amber, wild honey and spiced marmalade).  I added the colour a layer at a time by squashing the inkpad onto my mat then spritzing with water before pressing the paper onto it.

At this point I thought that the background looked like an autumnal morning so decided to go with that theme using beautanical elements and the same colours...

Next I picked three of the d'inkables and I have to admit that I went for my usual favourites!  Once the inks had been applied through the stencils I chose Wildflowers 1 and 2 stamps to create some floral interest with the distress oxide inks, then used the large teasel with Versafine ink and clear embossing powder.  I also added a sentiment onto the other side of the page...

It still felt like something was missing so I used one of the circle texture stamps to fill in some of the gaps.

Finally I added some details using a gold and a white uniball pen.

Be Yourself for Bee Crafty

Hello!

For my post today on the Buzzy Goings on at Bee Crafty Blog I thought I would create something a little different from my usual projects.  Even though I really love creating lots of layers in mixed media and art journaling, at times I also enjoy a bit of colouring and card making.

This week I have made a DL card using one of the Fashionette characters...

* I started by cutting my white stamping card to size then stamped the sentiment and Vera straight onto it using archival ink.

* Next I used pencils with a blending stump to colour the image, then added a bit of white and gold pen.

* Some pencil was also added at the bottom of the image to make sure she was not 'floating' on the card.

* Finally the card was matted onto black and adhered to the card blank.

The products used were:

* Fashionettes - Vera
* Wordage - Be Yourself

Thank you for looking and happy crafting!

Creative Artiste: Tando Mini Book

Hello!

As it is the first Friday in November today is the start of a new challenge over at the Creative Artiste Mixed Media Challenge blog...

Thank you for all the fabulous entries in October and you can find out who won by going over to the challenge blog HERE.

This month our sponsor is the wonderful Tando Creative...

For this challenge I used one of the beautiful greyboard mini books from Tando as the basis for my project...

After preparing the base with gesso I used Dina Wakley acrylic paint to add colour then a stencil from Imagination crafts with the same paint to create extra details.  Next I stamped the teasels from Bee Crafty with Versamark and heat embossed using black powder...

I felt that the cover required a bit of glitz so used the Bee Crafty star d'inkable with silver sparkle paste. To create some more dimensional elements I stamped out the mini butterfly from Bee Crafty and adhered them after cutting out and colouring.

To create the closure I punched holes with a crop a dile, set in some eyelets and added a piece of ribbon.

Finally to create the finishing touches I added a Tim Holtz Small Talk sticker and made a beaded charm to add to the spine...

Thank you for looking and I hope to see lots of your fabulous projects over at the challenge this month.

Happy crafting!

Altered Eclectics: Sunflower Tag

Hello!

A new month and a new challenge is starting over on the Altered Eclectics Challenge blog...

For my project this month I was drawn towards autumnal colours.  After stencilling with light paste I used some Dylusions ink sprays to create the background in red, orange and yellow.  Then I added gold gilding wax to bring out the texture.

Using the sunflower stamp from Bee Crafty I stamped and cut out 3 flowers and a few leaves after heat embossing with gold powder.  To add colour I used watercolour markers and then adhered them to the tag...

To complete the tag I used a clear backed sticker that I stuck onto white card and then matted it onto gold card...

Thank you for looking and happy crafting!
