Angel Glitter card for Leonie

Hello,

A very quick post today to share one of the cards from yesterday's shows...

The background was created with a couple of the blue pens and then water flicked on and lifted with kitchen roll.  The white 'stars' are from the last launch on the snowflake stamp set and embossed in white wow powder.  The angel was also coloured using the glitter pens as were the stars which were all cut out and layered up.

I will have a new Altered Eclectics project on the blog on Thursday as we start a new challenge for September, and it is very different from a glittery Christmas!!

Leonie Pujol Glitter Pen Launch!

Hello!

Thank you for joining me on this exciting launch night!

I have really enjoyed using these brand new glitter pens as they are lovely colours and packed with sparkle and the stamps are also really cute and fantastic for using with the pens.

I am going to post a couple of the finished samples that I made for tonight's launch and then I will post another couple on Tuesday.

Here is my first project that I showed a sneaky peek from with a magical fairy theme.  The pens were used to colour the main elements but also to make a background with water and salt added to add extra texture...

My next project was to show how small stamped images can be used to create a bigger card.  I also added extra bling as I wanted this to be really sparkly and Christmassy...

All the sentiments that I used on my samples came from a stamp set from the last collection that Leonie launched, the Christmas sentiment ribbons.

There will be lots more projects highlighted on the other design team members blogs.  Please pop over to see them as they are all fantastic...

Funtastic Friday: Leonie Pujol Christmas plus a sneak peek!

    Hello!

I am back today to show a few more samples from the last Leonie One Day Special and then I have a little sneaky peek of what is coming up on the next launch on Sunday (28th August)!

But to start with here are some more of the projects made using the Entwined Christmas Collection.  I have included 3 project, each using a different one of the collections...

The MDF bauble was painted using Imagination Crafts Starlight paints and stamped using the snowflake stamp set.  The top part was from the foliage background, stamped onto acetate and cut out.  The snowflake die was cut up to make the snowflake fronds and decorated with some pearl embellishments.

The cross card was made by using the base to cut an aperture and then silver glimmer paper was added to the inside of the card with acetate put behind the cross.  The other part of the base was used with the entwining cross and added to the front.  Part of a message border was added for a simple sentiment.

I made the box from a piece of 12 x 12 cardstock on my gift box punch board then decorated each side by cutting the base tree in green and the bauble entwining tree in gold.  I god embossed the star on each tree then added the trees to each side entwining areas as I applied them.  The box was finished off by adding some words and a tag made using some of the stamp sets.

Coming up this Sunday as part of the ongoing birthday celebrations on HOCHANDA, Leonie has a new One Day Special not to be missed!!

You can watch at 8pm (BST) on Sunday evening and then 9am, 12pm, 4pm and 7pm on Monday 29th August...

So here is the sneak peek...

I hope that has whetted your appetite!!  I will be back on Sunday evening with a post of the project to coincide with the launch so I hope you will come back to see the full version.

Have a lovely weekend whatever you are doing,

    Wonderful Wednesday: Bright Butterfly

    Hello!

We have been having a beautiful couple of days here on the Isle of Wight and that seems to go perfectly with so many of the challenges that are running at the moment.
Today I have created a project for the latest IndigoBlu blog challenge 'All Things Bright and Beautiful' (link is in the challenge title)...

I have been having a sort out of my crafty stash in recent days to try to get it organised so I get the best use out of everything and this has led to me rediscovering my gelatos!  I love their vibrant colours so thought they would be excellent for this project.

First I stamped 2 different IndigoBlu butterflies over a piece of cardstock and embossed them in white powder to create a resistant surface.  Then the gelatos were used in patches across the card and blended with a spritz of water...

I then took the IndigoBlu harlequin stencil and removed some of the colour using a baby wipe in a ghosting technique.  The flowers from another IndigoBlu stencil were added using a purple gelato and then the background was complete.

The big butterfly was stamped and gilded with silver flake on top of another piece of coloured card.  Some clear drying glue and glamour dust glitter were added for a bit of extra sparkle...

A sentiment was then stamped and embossed with silver powder...

Silver and yellow card was used to build up the layers before the final matting onto a white card blank.

    It certainly was very bright!!

I will be back on Friday with some more of the samples from Leonie's last One Day Special, and possibly a little sneak peek of what is coming up next weekend...

    Mixed Media Monday: Flower Canvas

    Hello!

I firstly must apologise for not posting on Friday :(  I had lots of things that needed doing and didn't have time to blog however I spent most of Sunday using lots of mixed media products to make a canvas to show you today...

I recently bought an online class by Kate Crane, Journal Soup, as I really want to get going with art journaling.  I have gone through 3 of the lessons so far and have had a fab time so decided to use some of the skills that I have practised to make a canvas.  This was very much out of my comfort zone as it required me to do my own drawing and painting and I had a few moments along the way when I was not happy with it at all!

I started by drawing my flower in pencil onto a gessoed canvas...

The background was created using Decoart Media fluid acrylic paints and tinting base.  For the top part I used turquoise and cobalt blue, and the bottom part used golden green...

Next was the creation of lots of layers.  I have recently bought some speedball carve material to make my own stamps and this has been great for making texture type stamps.  To go with this canvas I decided to stretch my cutting skills by carving a flower and leaf stamp to use...

I didn't worry too much about going over bits of the flower as I knew I would be painting this in later.  To create the background I used a couple of stencils from TCW using paint and some Adirondack inks...

Then I used my own stamps with both paint and ink again, as well as some marks made with old lids and gift cards.  Once I was happy with the majority of the background I painted in the flower with white paint before adding colour using the Decoart paints...

Once I was happy with this and the paint had all dried properly I added some gelatos to various parts of the canvas and some doodles using a black pitt pen and white posca pen...

I used some liquid pearls to add extra patterns then a bit more stencilling using white crackle paste and an Artplorations stencil.  The final touch was to add some text.  The main sentiment was typed on the computer and printed out before adding gelatos.  The other text was from one of Tim Holtz's sticker books (Big Chat)...

If you would like to see more from Kate Crane her blog link is http://thekathrynwheel.blogspot.co.uk/
If you are interested in her online classes click HERE to go straight there!

I hope you enjoyed reading about my journey, it was certainly good fun and I got to use a lot of my crafty stash.

I will be back with another project on Wednesday so I hope to see you then,

    Triptych for Leonie

    Hello!

I hope you are having lovely weather where you are?  We went to the beach yesterday to make the most of the sunshine we are having and it seems like another beautiful day today!

However despite this today I am going a bit Christmassy with one of the samples that I made as part of the Leonie Pujol design team for the Entwined Christmas launch last week...

The triptych is an MDF icon from IndigoBlu, which I fell in love with because it was something a bit different to decorate.  The base was painted with black gesso then dry brushed with some Goldfinger paint.

The swirl stamp from the snowflake set was used with gold embossing powder to create a bit of background interest...

I stamped the foliage background stamps a number of times onto black card with gold embossing powder and cut these pieces out to make focal points on most of the sides of the icon.  Gold PVA dots were added to them to create extra texture and interest...

The focal point for the inside was the entwined tree die, cut in black card then highlighted with gold Pebeo gilding wax.  The frost was then cut in vintage gold card and again highlighted with the gilding wax...

The sentiments came from the Christmas message ribbon stamps and were stamped and cut to fit.

My plan today is to craft most of the day (apart from preparing food for the children!!) and I hope you have a lovely day whatever you are doing!

Mixed Media Monday: Zesty and Zingy!

Hello, I hope you had a lovely weekend and that the weather was good wherever you are!

Today I have another plaque made using one of the Tando mixed media boards, I love the size of these for making plaques and their sturdiness makes them great for all types of mediums.  However unlike my wintery one on Friday this one has a much more hot, summer feel...

I will be entering this project into the following challenges...

I started by preparing the board with white gesso then used my gelli plate to make some prints.  I used a leaf stencil by Artplorations with some lime marmalade and lemon meringue paint from IndigoBlu.  I am still experimenting with my plate and also how different paints react so this was a bit of trial and error...

Once my board had dried I used a bold floral stencil (also from Artplorations) with some marshmallow paint to add some hot summer flowers.  Then for extra highlights I added some white lines with paint and an old gift card and some very subtle yellow and green circles with a bottle lid...

To make the flowers stand out a bit more I added some black dots with a fine liner pen and then added a few more doodles.  Using another piece of gelli print paper I stamped a sentiment from Jo Firth Young in archival black ink and then cut the words out...

I stamped and embossed one of the flower stamps by Leonie Pujol twice and cut them out so that I had two layers of petals.  These were then coloured using Spectrum Aqua markers with sparkle pen...

Finally all the pieces were adhered using glue gel and I added a little bumble bee just to finish off the summer feel...

I hope that has put you in a summery mood, I love the bright colours as they are so happy!

On Wednesday I will be back with some extra photos of the triptych that I made for last weeks Leonie Pujol Entwined Christmas launch so I hope you will pop by to have a look,

    Winter Plaque for Leonie...

Hello, I hope you were able to watch and enjoy the shows yesterday?

Today I am sharing a step by step of one of the projects that was on the set for the launch.

The snowflake bundle is excellent for winter projects that you might not want to be Christmassy so this was my aim with this plaque...

I started by preparing a Tando mixed media board with white gesso...

Using blue and pearl starlight paints from Imagination I created a wintery looking background with my brushstrokes...

To add extra interest I used a bottle top and old gift card to add circles and lines using white gesso...

More texture was added around the edges using some of the snowflake stamps with some darker blue paint (I wasn't worried about getting a really clear image as this was for the background)...

More defined snowflakes were then added using a different shade of blue ink along with some of the dotty swirls...

Next holes were punched into the top using a cropadile and blue eyelets added.  Then silver wire was attached to make a hanger and curled a bit to add a different shape...

The snowflake die was then cut in white pearl card and the 'winter' in dark blue cardstock.  One of the border greetings was stamped in blue ink then cut into sections and dusted with more ink...

Finally all the pieces were adhered to the plaque...

    Another wintery themed project!

I will be back with another step by step plaque on Monday using a range of products but in complete contrast as it is a very zingy, summery one!

    Have a lovely weekend,
