Happy Halloween for Bee Crafty

Hello!

As it is almost Halloween I thought I would create a seasonal card for my post today on Buzzy Goings on at Bee Crafty blog...

The recent All Hallows collection that was on HOCHANDA is ideal for this type of project and I decided to recreate one of my previous samples but with different products and a much lighter style.

The products used were...

I started by stamping the skull background onto a piece of watercolour card and embossing it with white powder.  The brusho powders were then sprinkled over the image (orange, purple and emerald green) and spritzed with water.  I lifted the excess off with kitchen roll and added more powder where I thought it was needed...

I matted the card onto orange, green and purple to coordinate with the colours before moving onto the other pieces.

I created the bottle and sentiment in the same way as the background, but when I wiped the pieces some of the powder smeared into the embossing, however I decided I quite liked the effect and decided to leave them.  These were then cut out and added to the card...

For me this was quite a simple card but I think that the skull background is so lovely it does not need too much adding to it.

Thank you for looking and don't forget to put your clocks back tonight!!

Happy crafting,

Butterfly Thank you for Bee Crafty

Hello!

I am back on the Buzzy Goings on at Bee Crafty blog this week with some mini art boards.  Sometimes I have wanted to say thank you to someone but a card has not seemed enough so this week I decided to use some mini art boards instead of a card to make a more permanent thank you gift...

I needed to make 2 and wanted them to be the same but different so decided to go for a warm toned and a cool toned option.

To make these boards I used...

* Art Boards
* Large Butterfly - Art Stamps
* XL Script - Backdrops Stamps
* Everyday Sentiments - Wordage Stamps
* Circles - D-Inkables

1) I started by coating the assembled boards with white gesso and then used structure paste through the circle stencil.
2) Once dry I used a selection of acrylic paints to colour the boards then added gilding wax to bring out the texture of the stencilling.
3) The script stamp was applied to add a bit of extra interest in the background.

4) The butterfly was stamped and then clear embossed before being cut out.
5) Using alcohol markers the butterflies were coloured in then a clear sparkle pen put over the top for a bit of bling.
6) Finally the sentiment was stamped and cut out then a little bit of distress ink brushed over to tie in the colours.

Thank you for taking the time to have a look.  Happy crafting,

Jane xx

'Tis Near Halloween for Frilly and Funkie

Hello!

Today I am fortunate to be a guest designer at the Frilly and Funkie challenge blog and the theme for their next challenge is 'Tis Near Halloween, you can click HERE to go to the challenge blog.

I decided to go for both a Halloween theme and Halloween colours...

I created a textured background on an MDF artboard from Bee Crafty by sticking on chipboard and metal elements as well as spreading some crackle paste and a bit of stencilling.  Once this was dried I painted it all over with black starlights paint from Imagination crafts and then added patina and gold gilding wax to enhance the textures...

I wanted to create a witches lair type of effect so filled a small glass bottle with green micro beads, then used the poison bottle stamp from Bee Crafty with alcohol pens to create a colourful focal point...

To add to the Halloween feel I stamped some bats also from Bee Crafty and edged with a bit of the same gold gilding wax.

Once these had been added I found some suitable sentiments from a sheet of 7 Dots Studio stickers (Writer's Block) and stuck those on as well.

I hope you have enjoyed a bit of early spookiness and maybe inspired you to enter the challenge over at Frilly and Funkie.

Thank you for reading,

Da Vinci Cards for Bee Crafty

Hello!

Today on the Buzzy Goings on at Bee Crafty Blog I thought I would share a few cards that I made for the recent Da Vinci shows on HOCHANDA.

The products used were...

* Da Vinci Background - Art Stamps
* Da Vinci Science of Beauty - Art Stamps
* Da Vinci Wings - Art Stamps
* Da Vinci Vitruvian Man - Art Stamps
* Art Is Never Finished - Wordage Stamps
* XL Script - Backdrops Stamp
* Distress Oxide Ink Pads
* Distress Ink Pads

This card was created using the distress oxides to create a piece of background card by squashing it onto a heatproof mat, spritzing with water then swooshing the card into it.  This card was then used to stamp on to with the wings and cut out, then a piece cut to size as a background and stamped with the background stamp.  The sentiment was stamped onto black card then embossed with white powder before being cut into sections.

The diorama card was created using 2 pieces of card which were cut and scored.  The XL crackle stamp was used to create a patterned paper effect, and the vitruvian man stamped and the square part cut out with the wings used at the sides.  A mat and layer was created for the inside and attached with foam pads.   A die was used to cut the aperture and a piece of acetate was placed inside which was lightly stamped in places.

I wanted to create an aged sepia toned card as I thought it suited the stamps well.  After stamping the science of beauty onto a piece of card that was coloured with distress ink, I cut it into 4 sections and matted them onto brown card.  The background was also stamped onto a distress inked piece of card and then water flicked on to create lighter spots.  I chose just to use a couple of words from the sentiment stamp and added these to the top and bottom.

Thank you for reading, I hope you are looking forward to the next Bee Crafty shows on Thursday!

Happy crafting,

Creative Artiste: Azoline ATC's

Hello!

I am back again today as it is the first Friday of a new month which means that Creative Artiste has a new challenge which this month is being sponsored by Decoart...

http://decoart.com/

This month I decided to try something a bit different to usual.  I wanted to decorate some grey board ATC's to go into my recently decorated ATC box, and I also wanted to try out a different technique using Decoart Media products...

There are a great series of short videos by Andy Skinner available on YouTube that highlight ways to use the various Media products by Decoart and I wanted to have a go at one using the crackle glaze and the interference paints.  So after painting the board with gesso and then a coloured paint I put crackle glaze across them then dropped in the interference paints...

Once dried I wanted to match my rather funky backgrounds with quirky stamps so first stamped some of the Azoline stamps straight onto the boards using black archival ink and then used Pitt pens by Faber-Castel to colour them in...

I then cut some card using one of the Tim Holtz mixed media dies and painted them with gold interference paint.

The main focal points were also stamped and then cut out and coloured using Pitt pens before having glossy accents applied with a sprinkle of glitter.

Finally I used some of the Tim Holtz small talk stickers adding a bit of dark pen to the sides and then put gold gilding wax around the edges of the ATC's to frame them.

I hope you enjoyed my little bit of difference this month!  If you are interested in seeing how some of the Decoart Media products can be used it is well worth having a search on YouTube, alternatively if you click on my Pinterest link button and go to my Decoart board there are links you can follow from there.

Please also go on over to the Creative Artiste Challenge Blog, you can find all the rules plus inspiration from the rest of the design team, click HERE to go straight there.

Thank you for reading and happy crafting,

Autumn Memories Wreath for Tando

Hello!

I am on the Tando blog today with my take on the weeks colour challenge...

I love the colours of autumn particularly the way the leaves look so beautiful as they change colour so I felt I had to make a leafy project...

I started with a Tando wreath shape and decided to make it into something that could be a piece of home dΓ©cor, maybe for someone in a new home, so I used one of the whimsical houses set 2 alongside leaves from the mini sets 2 and 3 and the memories word.

After coating all the pieces with gesso I used the Tando mini stencil leaves 1 with some modelling paste all around the wreath.  I then used Decoart Media acrylics to create a blended look across the wreath then used the colours to paint the rest of the pieces (titan buff, diarylide yellow, hansa yellow light, pyrole orange, quinacridone magenta and burnt umber)...

These were then stamped with the Dinkie Script stamp from IndigoBlu using sepia archival ink and then gold gilding wax was added.

For the house I first embossed the main part in a stone wall embossing folder then painted the pieces and gilded...

Once it had all been placed and stuck down I added some gems for a bit of sparkle then flicked the whole piece with watered down gold paint to tie it all together...

The products used were as follows, you can click on them to link to a more detailed product description...

* Whimsical Houses Shape 2
* Memories Word
* Minis - Leaves 2
* Minis - Leaves 3
* Leaves 1 4" x 4" stencil
* Decoart Media Fluid Acrylics

Thank you for reading and I hope that it has ignited your love of autumn!

Happy Crafting,

Jane xx

Altered Eclectics - Bright and Quirky ATC Box

Hello!

Well yet another month has passed by and we are already in October!  I don't think I am quite ready to let go of summer yet though, so for this months DT project over at Altered Eclectics I decided to create something bright and just a bit quirky...

If you want to take a look at the challenge blog to see all the design team projects and are thinking about entering then you can click HERE.  The main rule is anything goes but no cards or ATC's, but you can read all the rules over at the blog.

I recently bought this MDF box over at That Craft Place as I thought it was so cute.  It came in pieces but was really straight forward to put together.

Once assembled I coated it all in white gesso to prime the surfaces then used the Retro Circles stencil from Stamplorations with texture paste.
I then used Decoart Media Line fluid acrylics, cadmium red, pyrole orange and diarylide yellow, blending the colours together as I wanted a bright, warm feel to the project.  To tone the colours slightly I spritzed with the Decoart white shimmer spray and then highlighted the texture using gold gilding wax from Pebeo...

To create the decoration I wanted to use a variety of stamps that I don't always get a chance to use.  I chose a selection of different stamps (including the sentiment) from the Azoline collections by Carabelle, the Da Vinci Wings from Bee Crafty and flowers by Dylusions.

I stamped out the pieces I wanted to use with archival black ink and used spectrum aqua markers and water to colour them.  A clear sparkle overlay pen was then used over the top and on some pieces I added glossy accents with some Decoart glamour dust (crystal) sprinkled in whilst it was still wet...

Once all the pieces had dried over night they were glued on with glue gel and finally some sequins from Craft Box and a metal butterfly from Prima were added...

A bit of a difference to some of my more grungy projects, but I really enjoyed making this and will enjoy filling it with ATC's!

I hope you have been inspired to enter the Altered Eclectics challenge this month, do please pop over to the blog for a look :)
