  • I was lucky enough to have two of the new sets of stamps and masks to work with and today I am sharing with you the design team samples that I made using the vintage steam train set - Climb Aboard...

This card was made by using masking sheets to enable me to create a scene and then Spectrum Illustrator alcohol pens were used to colour.  I love all the extra elements on the stamp set such as the tickets, and there are a few different sentiments that fit inside them to make lots of options.

I always want to create more than cards for my samples as to me stamps and masks are not just for card making they are tools, and as such they become so much more versatile.  So I made this little MDF plaque using texture paste through the stencil for a different look.  I always find creating gifts for men more tricky so I think this set is an excellent addition to any collection.  This time I used Spectrum Aqua pens to make a more faded vintage look to the colouring of the train.

Finally I wanted to create a card that didn't use the train at all but could show how the other smaller elements can make quite a large card on their own.  I also used the mask again in the background but this time with distress inks.  All the colouring was done using just tea dye and vintage photo inks and the stamping with sepia Versafine.

Hopefully I have created a range of projects that shows you just some of what can be done with this set.  The shows will be on across the weekend (depending on stock levels) so do please tune in for more examples from the rest of the team and also fab demonstrations!

I will show the samples that I made with the other stamp set on Monday, so if you are a sweetie fan you may want to take a look!!

    Creative Artiste: Shabby Chic Heart

    Hello!

As it is the first Friday of the month it is the start of a new mixed media challenge at Creative Artiste. Click HERE to go straight over to the challenge blog...

The sponsor for this month is...

Here is my design team project...

I started by covering a wooden heart with paper from Maja Road then added some chipboard elements that I had covered with gold gilding wax.  The honeycomb and frame are from Scrapmatts and the words from Dusty Attic...

Using texture stamps from Bo Bunny I added some script and circles for extra interest and layers.
The keyhole, butterfly and two of the flowers were made using quick cast resin in a selection of moulds that I have, then were sprayed with ink and gilding wax added.  These were added to the heart along with some gauze, paper flowers, faux pearls and a metal key...

Please pop over to the blog to see what all the team members have been making and if you have a mixed media creation to share do please enter the challenge.

I will be back tomorrow with some of my samples from the latest Hunky Dory, For the love of Stamps Launch which begins tomorrow morning on Create and Craft, I hope you will come by again then,

    Altered Eclectics: Be Yourself!

    Hello!

I can't believe we are already into February, time flies when you're having fun!

That must also mean that it is time for a new challenge over at Altered Eclectics, click HERE to go straight over to the blog.  The only projects not allowed are cards and ATC's so if you love altering items and mixed media please share your wonderful projects.

For my design team project I altered an MDF art board from Bee Crafty...

The base was put together then primed with gesso before adding some stencilling with a honeycomb stencil from Bee Crafty and some Decoart crackle paste.  I then used Decoart paints and Lindy's Stamp Gang sprays for the colour plus some gold Pebeo gilding wax.
The clock was decorated in the same way and is also an MDF piece from Bee Crafty.  Once the clock was added to the board I used microbeads in 3D gel to add a rusty look...

Teal spray inks were used to colour some of the cream paper roses to match the rest of the project then added to the board along with some foliage and rusty wire.
Finally some butterflies were stamped from a Bee Crafty set using versamark and gold embossing powder then coloured with Spectrum Aqua Markers.  The sentiment was stamped out in the same way also from Bee Crafty and added in strips to the board...

The other design team members also have projects which you can read more about on their individual blogs so do please take some time to have a look and leave them a comment.

I will be back on Friday with another mixed media piece and then on Saturday there is a new launch of HunkyDory stamps!!

    See you soon,

    Jane x
