Altered Eclectics: Shabby Chic Teapot

Hello!

Welcome back to a new year at the Altered Eclectics Challenge Blog, amazingly it is February already! Thank you to all the people who continued to enter the challenge in December and January, it is inspiring to look at all your projects.

If you would like to take a look at the design team creations and also the rules etc. please click HERE.  The main thing to remember is that it is anything goes as long as it is altered art or mixed media, no cards or ATC's.

For this month I decided to alter a little metal teapot that I found in a charity shop, this is how it looked to start with...

And this is how it ended up...

I started by preparing the teapot using white gesso, crackle paste and texture sand paste (all from Decoart).  These were left to dry over night then colour was applied using Lindy's Stamp Gang sprays (Pretty in Pink, Prima Donna Purple, Jazzy Jivin' Purple and Time Travel Teal)...

To add some extra depth to the colours I also added some silk glazes (Pink Azalea and African Jade) and then put on some gold gilding wax, especially around the edges...

I then chose a variety of paper flowers, leaves and other embellishments from my crafty stash (many came from the Craft Box monthly subscription boxes), and also added a touch of gilding wax to tie the whole piece together...

Finally I added a stamped sentiment from Bee Crafty and coloured it with some distress ink.

We would love it if you would share some of your own altered and mixed media creations on the challenge this month, I look forward to seeing them!

Happy crafting,

Jane xx
