Lady Art Journaling Page for Bee Crafty

Hello!

For my post today on the Buzzy Goings on at Bee Crafty blog I am sharing some art journaling that I have done using Bee Crafty stamps and stencils.  At the moment I am really keen on using faces in my journaling and so the Ladies Profile stamp made an ideal starting point...

I started the spread by using water soluble pigment sticks to create colour on the background.  I then added some white gesso by dry brushing it in areas across the pages.

Next I stamped the profile using black archival ink and then used a permanent black fine liner pen to continue the neck and add a collar and the hair.  The face I then coloured using a mixture of acrylic paint and paint pens.  If any areas got covered up with the paint I then used the image on the package for guidance to fill them back in with the fine liner pen...

To create detail on her hair I used the feather d'inkable with white gesso.  Once this was dry I added details with dots in permanent pen and also some liquid pearls.  The butterflies were stamped and cut out and then coloured using the pigment sticks and water before being added to her hair...

At this point I wanted my lady to stand out against the background so added black pigment stick around the edges and allowed some of the colour to run to create a softer edge.  To tie in more black I used the script XL stamp with black archival ink around the page then took one of the creativity words and added parts to the two corners.  Finally I chose a sentiment which I stamped onto a piece of card that had been spritzed with ink for another project and cut it into strips before adding to the page...

Mini Art Journal for Bee Crafty

Hello!

Last week Sam was on HOCHANDA with some fab new MDF mini journals, and I was lucky enough to be able to decorate one for the show.  Today on the Buzzy Goings on at Bee Crafty blog I thought I would do a flip through of all the pages with you.

As well as decorating the MDF pages I also decided to add some extra pages and tags.

The idea was to create a rainbow effect throughout the journal, and the paint used was Dylusions applied with a brayer in layers...

The extra pages were coloured using distress oxide inks that were squished onto my craft mat and then spritzed with water...

I used a mixture of different black and white pens to add extra details to my pages...

 The larger collage images were stamped using versamark and embossed with black powder...

I used parts of some of the words to make new words e.g. Inspire using Inspiration and the E from another word...

Here are the links to the products that I used for this mini journal:

* MDF Mini Journal - Indent
* Art Stamps - Journal Borders (Diamond Straight, Lines Waves and Oval Wave)
* Wordage - Creativity Words Large

Splatter Mini Book for Tando Creative

Hello!

It is texture week this week on the Tando Creative blog and I decided to decorate one of the Tando mini books using both crackle texture and also creating texture through the paint layers...

After preparing the cover with gesso I added crackle paste through the splatters mini stencil and allowed it to dry overnight.  The next day I painted the whole cover with green gold acrylic paint from Decoart and then added cobalt blue hue with a small brayer to create a textured appearance.  To add even more to the layers I then splattered some watered down primary magenta over the whole piece...

I wanted to help the stencilled texture stand out more so used some archival black ink rubbed gently across the surface and also a touch of gold gilding wax.  Then I added some stamping using a script stamp and ink around the edges to create a frame.  Finally for the focal point I painted one of the Tando hearts and added glaze to the top.  Once this was dry I sponged some more black ink around the heart and finally secured it to the cover along with a sticker sentiment.

For this project I used:

3D Mini House for Tando Creative

Hello!

It is 3D week on the Tando Creative blog so today I am sharing a Mini House...

Although this is a pack of three I decided to only decorated the largest one.  I started by sticking the main body of the house together using red liner double sided tape and then painted the house and roof with white gesso.  Next I used my gelli plate with acrylic paints to add colour to the pieces...

Some extra pattern was added to the roof using the mini criss cross stencil.  The windows and doors were painted using pyrole red and I also used a heart from the mini heart pack.  A bit of gold gilding wax was added around the edges to tie it all together...

Finally I used some stamped images coloured with sparkle pen plus a little bit of doodling and liquid pearls as the finishing touches.

The main products used were:

* Tando Creative Mini Houses
* Tando Creative Mini Hearts
* Tando Creative Mini Criss Cross Stencil

Creative Artiste: Altered Mask

Hello!

The first Friday in September means it is time for a new challenge over on the Creative Artiste Mixed Media Challenge...

Thank you for all the fabulous entries we received last month, to find out who was chosen as the winner and for the top three please visit the challenge blog HERE.  This month our prize sponsor is Wow!...

For my project for this months challenge I decided to decorate a paper mache mask that was in my stash...

I started by preparing the base using gesso, sand texture paste and crackle paste.  Once dried I used a range of fluid acrylics, antiquing cream and gilding wax to create an old and rusty look...

Next I used the Bee Crafty XL script stamp and Wow gold embossing powder to add some extra details to the mask...

Some Tando Creative cogs, nuts and bolts were painted then I used a range of different embossing powders in my stash to colour them.  Some of the gaps were then filled in with micro beads...

Finally I chose a few words from the Tim Holtz Big Chat stickers and added these to the mask.

Thank you for looking and please do take a visit to the challenge blog, it would be great to see your creations.  Happy crafting!

ATCoins for Tando Creative

Hello!

As we welcome in September this week is a new colour theme on the Tando Creative blog...

I have been really keen this year on creating Artist Trading Cards as they are such a fun way to create miniature pieces of art and craft, so I was also keen to have a go at creating on some of the greyboard Artist Trading Coins that are a circular version measuring 2 and a half inches in diameter...

To start I used Americana chalky paint to coat the bases then used some plum coloured paint through the mini flourish stencil.  I also added a touch to the edges as well.  Using some of the Tando mini hearts, I mixed a coral colour using pink and a touch of brown and then once they were painted added stamping with plum archival ink and a script stamp.  To make them more dimensional I added liquid glass and whilst wet sprinkled in dusky pink glitter...

Using the same ink I stamped out three butterflies and coloured them using watercolour markers before coating with clear sparkle pen.  Finally I chose some sentiment stickers that matched in with the colour theme...

Here are the Tando Creative products that I used...

* Greyboard Artist Trading Coins
* Mini Hearts
* Mini Flourish Stencil

Thank you for looking and happy crafting!

Wonderful Rosie for Bee Crafty

Hello!

Today on the Buzzy Goings on at Bee Crafty blog I have used some stamps that I bought the other  week when Bee Crafty had them on a great offer as the Wednesday Wow!  I love all different styles and types of stamp, including characters, so couldn't resist getting a couple of the Fashionette girls including Rosie...

I started by deciding which medium I was going to use to colour her as this decided the type of ink I would stamp her in.  I decided on watercolours so used archival for the stamping then cut her out very carefully.  Next I used my watercolour paints, sparkle pen and a white uniball pen to add colour to her...

To add a little bit of extra glamour to her I adhered some gems and then stamped one of the small crowns and embossed it using gold powder.  To create the background I used distress oxide inks (worn lipstick, fossilized amber and wild honey) by squishing them onto my craft mat, spritzing with water and then making sure I dried between each layer.  I then used the same colours to add some stencilling using Mandala 7 and Perspective, then a bit of stamping using the Multi Mini Distress Diamonds...

Finally I wanted a sentiment that would match the image so used one of the Everyday Sentiments XL.

Here are the products that I used...

* Fashionettes - Rosie
* Heraldic - Assorted Small Crowns
* Backdrops - Multi Mini Distress Diamonds
* Wordage - Everyday Sentiments XL
* Inkables - Mandala 7, Perspective
* Distress Oxide Inkpads

Thank you for looking and do keep an eye out for the Wednesday Wow offers that Bee Crafty do.  If you are on Facebook and you 'like' the Bee Crafty page then you should find out what is available when they happen!

Happy crafting,

Altered Eclectics: Altered CD protector

Hello!

As it is the first day of September it is the start of a new challenge over on the Altered Eclectics challenge blog.  Thank you for all the fantastic entries last month, it is always lovely looking at what other people are creating.  If you would like to check out all the design team projects and take a look at the rules for entry then you can click HERE.  The challenge is always Anything Goes (altered and mixed media projects) the main rule is no cards or ATCs please.

This month I discovered this plastic CD protector around the house and thought that it would be a great base for a piece of home décor...

Before...

After...

I started by preparing the base, applying crackle paste to one half of the cover, then once it was dry added watered down acrylic paint.  On the other side I used alcohol inks on the back of the cover...

Using Dyan Reavleys Dylusions stamp set, I then stamped and cut out a selection of flowers and birds that were coloured using watercolour pens then clear sparkle pen was added over the top.  To create the flower centres I used sequins and beads and then attached them to the cover with glue gel...

A few more sequins and pearls were added amongst the images and then I chose a sentiment (also from Dylusions) which was added to the cover...

Finally I felt that something else was needed to finish the project off so made some charms using beads and metal elements which I attached to the bottom of the cover using a crop a dile to make the holes...

Thank you for looking and please do pop over to the challenge blog, it would be great to see your crafty projects.

Happy crafting,

Jane xx
