Hello!
Today on the Buzzy Goings on at Bee Crafty blog I am sharing a large MDF tag that I have added lots of mixed media layers and texture to...
First I primed the surface with white gesso before adding some crackle paint that I tinted with burnt umber to create a lighter shade of brown. Once this had dried I added watered down burnt umber to the tag, allowing it to drip in areas...
I then used crackle paste with some sepia pigment powder mixed in and put it through the Mandala 4 inkable. Once this had dried over night I rubbed some gold gilding wax over the top...
To create a bit more detail in the background I used the Script XL stamp with clear ink and gold embossing powder...
I wanted to create a really built up tag with lots of different textures and materials, so I first added a piece of cambric which I coloured with some burnt umber acrylic paint. For another layer I took a length of black thread and placed it on top of the cambric. Next I used some pieces of music and book paper which I had coated with resin and stapled them together...
So far the colours had all been very vintage in tone and I wanted my next layer to be more colourful and act as the main focal point. I stamped out the Beautanicals Large Poppy, Large rose and Large Sunflower using sepia Versafine and coated the lines with clear powder. After cutting them out I coloured them using watercolour paints...
As a contrast and to add some extra dimension I painted some of the MDF cogs and keys in burnt umber then added gilding wax. I stuck these to the tag then added a metal dragonfly from the Steampunk and Junk pieces. The colours were all fading into the background too much for my liking so I added some dry brushing using green gold and titan buff acrylic paint, then when I was happy added some gold acrylic splatters...
Finally I raided my bead stash and added a few clusters of beads, then chose the sentiment which I stamped out and cut into sections before adding to the tag...
Here are the products that I used:
* Beautanicals - Large Poppy; Large Rose; Large Sunflower
* Backdrops - Script XL
* Wordage - Life and Rain (Large)
* Inkables - Mandala 4
* MDF - Large Tag
* MDF - Cogs
* MDF - Keys
* Steampunk and Junk - Dragonfly
I really enjoyed creating this piece and thank you for looking!
Happy crafting,

‘Heat Embossed Butterfly Tag’ for Tando Creative
Hello!
This week on the Tando Creative blog the theme is heat embossing. This is one of my favourite techniques and mediums so I used some different types of powder to decorate one of the technique tags from my binder...
I started by painting the tag using black gesso...
Next I used my versamark clear inkpad on the bottom half of the tag then added ultra thick bronze embossing powder. I added 3 layers of powder altogether, adding more powder whilst the layer before was still hot. After the third layer I inked up my diamond background stamp from Bee Crafty (this is a photopolymer stamp so can withstand high temperatures but you may need to check other clear stamps if doing this technique) using black staz on. Once I had made sure my powder was really molten I placed the stamp in then held it firmly until the powder had started to set. Then I carefully peeled it off...
Using a large greyboard cog from Tando Creative that I had previously painted, I added some dabs of clear ink and patches of metallic embossing powder. I then cut it into pieces and adhered it to the tag...
At this point I realised that I wanted some finer embossing detail at the top! So I carefully added some clear ink to my script stamp from Bee Crafty and embossed with a fine gold powder. There were speckles of powder left behind but I didn't mind as I was going for a grungy feel...
I had previously made some resin paper by coating old book paper with resin and leaving it to cure. I stamped out 6 butterflies using my stamp with Versafine black ink and adding clear embossing powder over the top before heating it. These were then cut out and layered up to create 3 embellishments. I also wrapped some rusty wire around the tag for extra texture and interest and finally added some sentiments from the Tim Holtz small talk stickers which I stuck onto black card for extra stability...
I am really looking forward to seeing what the other team members do with their heat embossing this week and hope you will join them too.
Thank you for looking and happy crafting!

'Mandala Card' with HunkyDory Crafts
Hello!
Today I am sharing a new project I have created using some HunkyDory Crafts products that I was fortunate enough to be able to choose and be sent.
Full disclosure: I have been given these products to review for free and to keep, however any views I have are my own and will be totally honest.
To go with the products that I have previously received (there are previous blog posts and YouTube videos) I decided to choose a set of dies, mandala stamp and a set of pigment powders.
For this project I used the set of Moonstone dies (Marvellous Mandalas) and set 4 of the Prism powders and I made a video showing the process on my YouTube channel, link is below...
https://youtu.be/bmfIYPS8Asw
I started by cutting the mandala corner 4 times on my manual die cutting machine so that I could create a circle. It is an intricate die so I did have to turn each section 90 degrees and run it through a few times but it cut out the mandala perfectly from watercolour cardstock. I poked out the pieces with my pokey tool but they would fall out well with a die brush.
The Prism powders look quite pastel in the pots but when they are activated with water the colours are beautiful and bright with a lovely pearlescent shine. I didn't cover the entire die cuts or disturb them too much as then you can get a more speckled effect where you can see the different colours of pigment, but when I coloured the flowers I used a brush to blend them more and this gives you a solid watercolour paint effect...
Within the die set you also get two different sized flowers and butterflies as well as some leaves, this makes them ideal for layering up and create lovely focal points to a project...
I also like to use the pigment powders in a slightly different way and previously I have mixed them with clear embossing powder to create a coloured embossing powder but this time I sprinkled a small amount into the embossing whilst still molten to create some gold speckles...

The dies are great quality and cut well both with watercolour and stamping cardstock. I have also cut some from vellum which I will use in my next project.
The powders are really versatile and highly pigmented so a little goes a long way! They are pearlescent and this really shines through to give them a lovely quality.
As I felt that adding the mandala stamp into this project would have been too much, I will be creating another blog post and video soon to show how that can be used along with the powders as well.
Here are the products I used which you can click on to link directly to the website.

I really enjoyed using these products and hope you will pop over to look at the video too...

'France Papillon Butterfly Tag' for Tando Creative
Hello!
This week on the Tando Creative blog we are using products designed by France Papillon...
* I started by using some of the greyboard tags and embellishments that were produced for France by Tando Creative
* These pieces were prepared with gesso then I used modelling paste through the warp grid stencil
* Chalky Americana paint was used to colour the different pieces and some silver foiling added to the 'paperclip' element
* One of the script stamps from 'London New York' was added to some of the pieces with grey archival ink
* The butterflies from the 'Creepers and Crawlers' set were stamped using grey archival ink then coloured using some of the chalky paint with a little added water
* All the pieces were then adhered together and the words from the 'Perfect Words' set were also stamped and added using glue gel
Thank you for looking and happy crafting!

'Shimmering Shells' for Bee Crafty
Hello!
Today on the Buzzy Goings on at Bee Crafty blog I am sharing some small projects that I created using an under the sea theme.
I have also made a video of how one of them was made which you can watch here...
https://youtu.be/WJ-zhvKVkXI
* I started by using some distress oxide inkpads to create a watery effect background by placing some ink on my mat then adding water - Broken China and Peacock Feathers
* Next I used Salty Ocean distress oxide to add some stamping using the positive soapy bubbles stamp
* After using my anti static bag I put clear texture paste through the circles d'inkable and then sprinkled a white glitter embossing powder over the top. As this is heated up it also bubbles the paste which is the effect that I wanted
* Using black archival ink I stamped out two different sizes of shell and after cutting them out painted them using some metallic watercolours. I then used Dylusions paint pens to add in extra details
* These were then stuck down using glue gel
* Finally I chose sentiments from Ticker Tape 2 which were stamped in black then cut out with scissors
Here are the products I used:
* Art Stamps - Conch Shell (regular)
* Art Stamps - Conch Shell (XL)
* Backdrop Stamps - Soapy Bubbles Positive
* Wordage Stamps - Ticker Tape 2
* D'Inkables - Circles
* Distress Oxide Inkpads
* Dylusions Paint Pens
Thank you for looking and happy crafting!

Today on the Buzzy Goings on at Bee Crafty blog I am sharing a card that was quick to make and the theme and colours were chosen to try to help brighten up the unseasonal weather...
* First I cut a piece of white smooth stamping card to a square of 5 and a quarter inches
* Then I used distress inks in worn lipstick, wild honey and mustard seed in layers by adding the ink to my glass mat before spritzing with water to place the card into
* I inked up the smaller doodle sunflower stamp using archival ink and stamped my background
* Using pitt pens by Faber Castel (which are a permanent ink) I coloured the sunflowers
* To add a little more interest to the background I used the lines stamp from the doodle dragonfly with the wild honey ink
* The dragonfly was stamped onto the background then again onto another piece of card which I then cut out and coloured before sticking it onto the card
* Finally I stamped the sentiment onto black card and used white embossing powder which I heated

'Vintage Notebook' for Bee Crafty
Hello!
Today on the Buzzy Goings on at Bee Crafty blog I am sharing a notebook holder that I have made and decorated...
I started by cutting the covers and die using mount board in my bigz die. To create an aged looking surface I used some different types of crackle mediums and chalky finish paint, then edged the pieces using sepia archival ink...
Next I added some stamping. Using archival ink in sepia and vermillion I stamped 'Time Measure' in larger sections then added smaller more specific parts in the brighter colour...
Then to create some more texture I mixed some crackle paste with a small amount of sepia pigment powder and put it through the 'Coffee Stain Script' stencil...
At this point the colours were looking a bit too bold for me so I dry brushed some cream coloured chalky paint across the covers then added some gold gilding wax...
Whilst working on a jewellery project recently I had some clear resin left over and spread it across some different types of paper to create resin paper. I used this to stamp some butterflies onto and to build up some elements for the cover...
Once these had been added to the cover on top of some cambric that I coloured and some thread, I stamped one of the 'Ticker Tape 2' sentiments onto another piece of resin paper to layer up and painted one of the MDF cogs which I cut in half then added some gold gilding wax...
I also added some holes and eyelets for a piece of organza ribbon to close the notebook and some elastic to the edge for putting a notebook inside.
Here are the products that I used:
* Art Stamps - Time Measure
* Art Stamps - Dragonfly and Butterfly
* Wordage - Ticker Tape 2
* Inkables - Coffee Stain Script
* MDF - Cogs
* Archival Inkpads
There is currently a summer sale over on the Bee Crafty website so if you are interested in any of the products now is a great time to grab a bargain!!

'Explore the Deep' Art Journaling for Tando Creative
Hello!
It is Art Journal week on the Tando Creative blog and in the last couple of years this is something I have really developed a love for! So I was very pleased when Di produced some Tando elements that were extra thin especially for art journals...
My journal pages usually develop as I go along but I did want to use circles and when I saw two pages that I had already put some excess blue paint onto I had a feeling of where the spread was going to go!
I added teal spray ink and blue paint along with some white gesso to create my background colour.
Next I used modelling paste through the rings stencil and once this was dry added some archival ink around the edges of the page and swiped across the stencilling...
After that I added some background stamping using stamps from France Papillon and archival ink ('Rock n Rust', 'London New York' and 'Perfect Words').
To alter my Tando circles I added some spray ink then used clear embossing ink and shabby blue embossing powder from Stampendous before adhering them to the pages. To add extra interest and contrast to the blue I painted orange watercolour and quinacridone gold acrylic around the circle areas and also allowed it to drip down.
Using the octopus stamp from France Papillon I added the tentacles directly to the top of one page then stamped it again onto card. This was then cut out and coloured before adding to the spread...
Finally I stamped out some of the words from the 'Perfect Words' set and also added a sticker from a Tim Holtz set...
Here are the products I used which can all be found on the Tando Creative website:
* Tando Creative Extra Thins - Circles
* Tando Creative Stencil 260mm x 60mm - Rings
* France Papillon Stamp Sets - Rock n Rust; Perfect Words; Creepers and Crawlers; London New York
* Stampendous Embossing Powder - Shabby Blue
* Decoart Modelling Paste - White
* Decoart Fluid Acrylics - Quinacridone Gold
Thank you for looking and happy crafting!

Craftascope Monthly Blog Hop - Colour Theme: Dutch Flag
Hello!
Welcome to the Craftascope monthly blog hop organised by the lovely Jacqueline!
This month we are creating projects using mainly products from the Craftascope range by Nick Roberts using a colour theme and the colours are...
I decided to go small this month with some ATC's. An ATC is an artist trading card which is a piece of artwork that measures 2 1/2" by 3 1/2" and was originally intended for trading with other artists. You can still find ATC swaps in a variety of craft groups but I generally make them because they are a cute piece of work to keep.
I started by creating a blue background for my ATC's. I used distress oxide inkpads in Peacock Feathers, Salty Ocean and Broken China on a glossy card stock...
Then I allowed the ink to dry slightly before I took a paper towel and buffed the surface...
Next I used the Craftascope 'ATC card and envelope' die to cut out 2 ATC's and also the trellis part of the die in white glossy card. Then I used black Versafine ink with clear embossing powder over the top to stamp words from the 'ATC Antics' set into the cartouche section of the trellis before sticking them together...
There is also a stamp on the 'ATC Antics' set that can be used on the back of the cards to write on details if you are planning to trade them, so I stamped that onto the backs as well...
After that I created another background in the same way as the blue but this time I used Fired Brick and Candied Apple oxides.
I stamped one of the flowers from the 'Bloom and Grow' set onto the red background 3 times and then two of the leaves on the remains of the blue. These were adhered to the cards and some white and blue gems added...
Craftascope products can be found over on the ETSY page which you can visit by clicking this link...
