    Wonderful Wednesday: An Alien Star!!

    Hello!

I am back today with another card, but a bit different to Monday's!

I will be entering this project into the following challenges...

    * Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers - O is for Outer Space
    * Sweet Stampin' Challenge - Stars

    Here is my completed card...

I started by stamping one of the monsters from the Dylusions 'Monster Mash' set to become an alien, as well as a pair of sunglasses from Tim Holtz's 'Crazy Things' and the sentiment from another Dylusions set 'Say it as it is'.
These were all cut out, coloured with Spectrum Aqua pens and coated in glossy accents...

Then a piece of black card was cut to the correct size for the final card and silver sparkle paste from Imagination Crafts used through a Heidi Swapp stencil...

Using an oval and stars dies from Stampin'Up! I cut out pieces from gold and silver card...

Then once all the pieces were dry the card was put together using glue gel...

This was a fun card to make!

Now a reminder for Thursday 30th June.

The new Leonie Pujol Collection is launching on HOCHANDA at 8pm as a One Day Special, followed by shows on Friday 1st July at 9am, 12pm, 4pm and 7pm.

Design Team Tuesday: A Bag of Cards

    Hello!

A quick post today to show you one of the projects that didn't get to be viewed on the television during the last Leonie Pujol launch...

I decided to have a go at using the stamps on a little muslin bag, stamping with staz on ink then colouring in with Aqua Spectrum markers.  I then made some simple cards to fit inside the bag, each with a different sentiment on.  Finally I made a tag by stamping with the markers and adding a butterfly die cut.

On Thursday this week (30th June) there will be a new launch of Leonie Pujol craft products on HOCHANDA as a One Day Special, I will put up more details tomorrow!

Mixed Media Monday: A Box of Butterflies!

    Hello!

I hope you have had a good weekend and are refreshed and ready for the coming week!

Today I have a mixed media card project for a change, although you may recognise the card style as it is another pop up box card!

I will be entering this project into the IndigoBlu Challenge Blog challenge, Brown and Teal...

The base card is made from Kraft card and the details of the measurements etc. are on a previous box card post.

I started by creating the sheets of card to be cut up as the decorative panels.
The first step was to spray the white card with spray ink to create the base colour - Lindy's Stamp Gang (Time Travel Teal, Shabby Turbine Teal & Opal Sea Oats) and Distress Stain Spray (Vintage Photo)...

Then I created a stamped layer using a variety of IndigoBlu stamps - Doily from Floral Fantasy; Vintage Flourish and All Saints.  These were done using a mix of brown and teal toned ink pads...

For the final layer I wanted to add a bit of texture, so used Cinnamon Sparkle Paste from Imagination Crafts through the IndigoBlu Harlequin stencil...

Once these were all thoroughly dry I cut the panels up and matted them onto brown cardstock.
I also took the 'Thanks' stamp from the Word Blocks set, then once stamped cut the centre piece out with a die and inked around the edges with Vintage Photo distress ink...

To create the main focus of the card I stamped the two individual butterflies of the Floral Fantasy stamp set a number of times using brown ink onto a sprayed ink background.  These were then cut out and covered with glossy accents and a sprinkle of teal glitter whilst the glaze was still wet.

These were then stuck onto strips of acetate along with some flourish die cuts from Heartfelt Creations in brown cardstock, and then arranged on the struts within the card.  Any extra pieces were added to the outside flaps along with the sentiment...

Another pop up box card to add to my growing collection!

I will be back tomorrow with another design team sample from the last Leonie Pujol Entwined Hearts release and possibly some info about something to watch out for later this week on HOCHANDA!

Funtastic Friday: A flowery thank you

    Hello!

It is almost the weekend and at last the sun has come out here after some pretty heavy rain over the past few days!

Despite the weather saying otherwise it is coming up to the school summer hols very soon and therefore I have started to think about ways of saying thank you to those people who have looked after my children at nursery and school over the last year.
I love to give hand made cards as I think they are much more personal, and so I thought I would show you two that I have made ready this year...

The sentiment says it all and is from a Phill Martin set.  The flowers are from Emily's Garden by Cardio and are one of my favourite sets to use, especially for creating really pretty cards in a quick way.
This technique has been fantastically demonstrated by Wendy of Cardio on television and at various craft shows, so I take no credit for it whatsoever!!
I started by using the largest flower in the lightest colour, using the ink for more that one impression each time, then gradually went down the sizes, using darker tones.  Then I added some of the foliage in different greens.  Some distress ink was also brushed around the edges to help frame the pieces.
I also added some stickles for a bit of bling at the end and for these cards I matted and layered the sentiment as well as raising it up a bit.  However when creating cards for craft shows I usually stamp the sentiment directly on to make them lighter and flatter for people to post.

These will be going out to some special people next month!

I will be back with a mixed media piece on Monday, so until then have a lovely weekend whatever you are doing,

Wonderful Wednesday: A Box Full of Flowers!

    Hello!

Today I am back with another card but this time something a bit different for me!

I have always loved the different types of 'engineered' cards that people make but have always really stuck to quite straight forward (mostly square) cards.  So I decided to have a go at a box card...

There are many places online these days to get measurements etc. for specific cards, but I have drawn a quick layout of how this card is put together just using one sheet of A4 card...

This is what it is like when cut and scored...

I layered up the panels first before sticking the box together...

Then I made the struts to go inside...

Then the fun part!!  I started by stamping flowers and butterflies from a set by Bee Crafty.  I stamped with Versafine then covered with clear embossing powder so that when I coloured the images I knew they would not smudge.
I cut out more than I knew I would need so that I would have plenty of options when assembling.
When they had been cut out I coloured the images using Spectrum Aqua pens, then coated them with glossy accents and a sprinkle of glamour dust glitter.
These were left to dry thoroughly.
I used a Heartfelt Creations flourish die to cut some black card.
Strips of acetate were then cut about an inch wide for my different parts to attach to.
I then had fun arranging my flourishes, flowers and butterflies onto the acetate and then deciding where to put them in the box.
As I had a couple left over at the end I attached them to the front and back of the box and then stamped and die cut a birthday greeting...

I am now going to have fun making some more of these as I think they would look attractive on my craft stall in the summer.  My mind is already whirring with ideas for other times of the year too!

Thank you for taking the time to come and have a look, I hope you will come by again soon,

    Design Team Tuesday: Funky Hearts

    Hello!

Today I have a quick post to show you two of the cards that I made as samples for the last Leonie Pujol launch of the Entwined Hearts die collection.

The cards today both feature hearts from the funky collection...

This card uses the funky heart base with the Lovely Bubbles overlay.  The circle background was created using a stamp from 'From The Heart' which is the same set that the sentiment came from.

The second card is set on a brusho background and uses the funky heart base again but this time with the Hearts and Swirls overlay.  The sentiment is from the 'Message Ribbon' set.

Hopefully this helps to show how just by changing the overlay and the colour scheme you can get a totally different look and feel to your cards!

    Mixed Media Monday: Rusty Hexagon

Hello, I hope you have all had a fab weekend!

Today I have a mixed media project using a product that I recently bought.
For a few months I have been looking at the Finnabair rust paste set that was brought out earlier this year and considering getting it, but it had been out of stock in most places and I wasn't sure if it would really give a realistic rust effect.
However after I watched a recent video by Finnabair herself I was so impressed that as soon as I saw the set in stock online I ordered it, and I have to say having used it for the first time this weekend, I am blown away by the results you can get!

I am entering this project into the following challenges:

    * Rhedd's Creative Spirit - Anything Goes
    * Crafty Girls Challenge - Challenge #21
    * Creative Carte Blanche - Winged Things
    * Love to Create - Anything Creative Mixed Media Goes
    * Anything But Cute - The Birds and The Bees
    * STAMPlorations - Mixed Media Challenge

Today I will start with a photo of the finished piece then show you the steps I took to get there...

I started with an MDF hexagon blank that I painted with white gesso to form a base...

Once both sides were dry I used a Bold Bloom stencil from ARTplorations with light paste to make a textured background...

I had a collection of dried clay pieces that I had recently made using DAS air drying clay and some Martha Stewart moulds, so I picked out the ones I wanted and played around with different layouts until I was happy.  These were then stuck to the plaque using 3D Matte Gel and allowed to dry thoroughly...

I put another thin coat of gesso over the whole piece before adding colour.  As I knew I wanted to use the rust paste I decided to stick with a brown colour scheme.  The base was painted with tea dye and vintage photo distress paints then sprayed using distress stains (wild honey and vintage photo) and Lindy's Stamp Gang (Shabby Turbine Teal and Steampunk Sepia)...

Then the rust paste!!  I only wanted part of the plaque to have the rust effect so chose to focus on the bottom and right hand side.  I added the yellow, then red then brown rust pastes, and was really surprised by how quickly and easily the rust effect was created.  I then added extra bits of whatever colour I felt was needed.  Finally I added some gold Pebeo and Patina gilding waxes...

I wanted a sentiment to fit with the bird theme so chose one from the Dina Wakely bird set.  This was stamped and embossed with gold powder onto a background created with two of the earlier sprays.  After cutting it out with a die I added some gold gilding pen around the edge then attached to the plaque with glue gel.  The final touch was some organza ribbon to hang it up with...

There is now a risk that I will be rusting everything in sight!! So the children had better watch out!

I will be back tomorrow with a couple of cards made for my design team samples a couple of weeks ago, hopefully you will pop by to see them,

Funtastic Friday: A Few Quick Cards...

    Hello!

Today I thought I would show you something a bit different to what I would normally make, some quick and simple cards.

I really enjoy making cards and other projects using lots of products, techniques and layers, but when I am selling cards at craft fairs I often need items that are quick to produce so that they can be competitively priced.  I have a collection of stamps from Little Claire that are ideal for this as they are quite small and often just need a bit of inky background and a quick mat and layer.

The first one to show you is using a silhouette stamp onto a distress ink background with a piece of glitter acetate over the top...

The second card is also using a Little Claire stamp, this time a wavy one!  It was stamped in black Versafine, then a little bit of colouring before adding distress ink to the top and bottom, then some glossy accents added to the cats...

The final card is using a stamp and die set from Altenew that was a free gift recently on the cover of a craft magazine.  Two flowers were stamped and die cut and the third stamped straight onto the card...

I will be making more variations of these in the future, but for Monday I will be aiming to create a very textured, mixed media piece using some new products that I have received this week!

Hopefully I will see you back here then,

    Wonderful Wednesday: A New Home

    Hello once more!

The other week I had a stall at a local craft fair and was asked if I had a new home card, unfortunately I didn't, but it got me thinking that I needed to make sure that I have a selection of different occasions as I do tend towards the birthdays!

So when I was at the Sincerely Yours craft show in Portsmouth on Sunday I decided to buy a cute little new home set by Woodware and used it to make today's card, so I will have at least one at the next craft fair!

I will be entering this project into the following challenges...

    * Sweet Stampin' Challenge - Lots of Layers
    * That's Crafty - In The Pink

I started by stamping out the main image of the bird house 3 times and then cutting out the parts I wanted to layer up.  I also stamped and cut out the smallest flower and the leaves from Beautiful Bloom by Leonie Pujol...

Then I used Spectrum Aqua pens to colour all the parts, and coloured around the main circle image by dusting on some Broken China distress ink.  The birds and all the various flowers were coated with glossy accents, and the larger flowers had a sprinkle of glamour dust over the top for extra sparkle...

The parts were then layered up using glue gel and pink circle dazzlers added to the centres of the flowers...

Paper from LOTV was added at an angle to the base card, then a different pattern matted and layered onto the top.  A circle of pink card was die cut for the main image...

The pieces were then all glued into place...

It will be requiring a box as it is quite a dimensional card, but I think it is really cute!

I will be back on Friday with a selection of quick and simple cards,
